Notifications

Knowledge Base posts inside your firm only. It never sends a message to an advisor, an LP, or a prospect, and it does not push periodic digests. Every notification below is a reply to something you or a teammate said, or a quiet step-in on an unanswered question in a channel it watches.

Direct Answer With Sources

When: You ask Knowledge Base a question in its channel or by mentioning it elsewhere.

What It Contains:

  • A short, direct answer to the question you asked
  • A Sources: footer listing the documents or regulatory references the answer came from, named in plain terms ("from the Fund III LPA", "per SEC Investment Advisers Release IA-5653")
  • A precise count or list, when the question asked for numbers
  • A conflict flag, when sources disagree, with both cited

Action Required: Read the answer. If the citation is the document you needed, you are done. If your decision rests on the underlying document language, open the cited source and verify. No approval is needed; Knowledge Base does not produce outbound work.

Outdated Content Flag

When: The document an answer is drawn from appears to be more than six months old, and the topic is one where freshness matters (regulation, fund terms, advisor coverage, market context).

What It Contains:

  • The answer itself
  • A short note at the end of the answer that the source may be outdated, with the approximate timeframe
  • The same Sources: footer

Action Required: Treat the answer as a starting point, not a conclusion. Confirm whether the source has been updated, particularly if you are about to act on the answer in front of an advisor or an LP.

Source Conflict Flag

When: Two or more documents that should agree on a topic say different things.

What It Contains:

  • A short explanation of the conflict in plain language
  • Both sources cited in the footer
  • No attempt to pick a winner

Action Required: Read both citations and decide which one applies. The conflict often comes down to a date, a fund vintage, or a policy revision. If you cannot tell which source is current, ask your operations lead or compliance lead before acting.

Decline to Answer

When: The agent cannot find a confident answer in your firm's documents, or the question falls inside a private topic (compensation, individual HR matters, specific advisor side letter terms, unpublished fund performance).

What It Contains:

  • For a low-confidence miss: "I don't have information on that in the knowledge base."
  • For a private topic: a short, neutral non-answer that does not acknowledge whether the underlying information exists

Action Required: Rephrase the question if you think the answer should exist and the agent missed it; check whether the document you have in mind is actually in your firm's knowledge base; or take the question to the person who would know. On private topics, do not try to re-ask in a different phrasing; the guardrail is intentional.

Passive Channel Answer

When: A question is posted in a channel Knowledge Base monitors, no one answers it within the watch window, and the agent finds a confident, sourced answer in your firm's documents.

What It Contains:

  • A short reply in the same thread, kept to one to four sentences
  • A Sources: footer with the documents used
  • No filler, no preamble, no "great question"

Action Required: None automatic. If the answer resolves the question, the thread moves on. If you have more context the agent does not have, reply yourself; your reply takes precedence. If the answer is wrong, correct it in the thread and consider noting the correction so future answers improve.

Knowledge Base stays silent on casual chat, greetings, opinion questions, and anything outside its scope. Silence is the correct behavior for those messages; it is not a failure.
